  • One of the most fascinating structures in this ancient city is the Celcius Library. This library, which was built on a central point of the city, has two floors and it is still standing in terms of its basic structure. When the library is examined it is immediately noticeable that it was built with very fine workmanship. The fine patterns and details between the stones reflect the architectural understanding of the period. This library is large enough to store 14,000 books.

  • Another popular building in the region is Temple Of Hadrian. Hadrian was one of those who made the kingdom of Rome for many years. The kings who died at that time were considered sacred and some temples were built for these kings. These temples are some of the structures reflecting the religious understanding of the period.
  • The next destination will be House of Virgin Mary. It is believed to be the last residence of the Mother of Jesus, the Virgin Mary. 4-6 years after the death of Christ, she came to the Bulbuldag with St. John and lived here. The peaceful site is sacred to both Christians and Muslims and is visited by many tourists and pilgrims. After the proclamation of Pope Paul VI in 1967, Pope II. John Paul came to Ephesus and announced that the House of Virgin Mary was a place of pilgrimage for Christians. It is a world-famous pilgrimage place. The building is a church dating back to the seventh century and restored in 1951.

We booked a day tour of Ephesus, and pickup and drop off at Izmir airport with Toursce tour group and it was simply fantastic. Coskun was our contact person and he was absolutely terrific from the moment we made contact. Having never done an Ephesus tour, David had several questions, and he answered each one fully and accurately. Since that was a private tour, so it was highly flexible, and truly designed to please us, without any sort of a rush on time. In fact, This was us who were pushing them to move on. That was worth every penny. The tour guide was simply outstanding. I would highly recommend the toursce travel and please request to deal with Coskun, as they are truly what you call a one stop shop and absolutely fantastic.

Marcy Ephesus’s tour was excellent…. Your tour guide was so enthusiastic! We enjoyed our daily excursion so much because of him. His knowledge of the history of ancient Ephesus was very helpful! Ancient Ephesus and Virgin Mary were a great tour! Also, Husnu was a great driver from the Izmir Airport, very safe… We would definitely suggest joining this tour!

Ancient Ephesus city, one of the best beauties that I have been. The ruins of Ephesus are so huge, you walk through it taking you about one hour, from one side till the other end. That was very interesting indeed and here you will find the original sign of Nike. Also, Santa Mary’s House was a holy place and interesting for each Christian to visit. I was enchanted by the information provided by the tour guide.

Thank you very much for this beyond expectations service… Ephesus day tour is definitely the highlight of this trip and way above my expectations. The ancient ruins and history of Ephesus were brought to life again for us by our excellent tour guide Ergun who was informative, patient, helpful, and funny as well. Everyone in the tour group had an excellent time, lots of chances for taking photos and questions during the tour. The lunch provided was excellent and it was included in the program. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone in Turkey.

Great Tour, Great Tour Guide, Great Service! Ephesus and St. Mary’s House day touring was a great experience. The day tour guide was a cool guy and very knowledgeable of the sites. The tour guide also had a way of using humor in his descriptions of what we were seeing which was an added bonus and really enhanced the experience. Our tour was in March, but unfortunately, I do not recall our Ephesus tour guide’s name, so if anybody has an idea of who he is, please send me a message or post it as a response to this here if you can.
