UNESCO treats Göreme and the rock sites of Cappadocia as a cultural landscape, not a single viewpoint; cave churches, erosion valleys, underground cities and troglodyte villages all compete for time. Balloon plans also depend on weather and civil-aviation decisions, so a strong Cappadocia plan needs a land-route backup. The most useful comparison is route fatigue versus visual reward; Cappadocia looks small on a map but valleys, viewpoints and airport transfers quickly consume margins.
Do not book a balloon as if it replaces a land tour; cancellations can happen, and the geology is understood better from both air and ground.
