Tour Overview
West to south to center, then home. An 8-day Turkey tour from Istanbul completes a full geographic arc, starting with the Aegean archaeology of Ephesus, dropping to the white terraces of Pamukkale, coasting along Antalya's Mediterranean shoreline, then pivoting north into Cappadocia's volcanic valleys before a flight back. Four regions, one circular route.
Tour Itinerary
Fly to Izmir & Full Day Ephesus Tour
Meal: Lunch
04:00 - Pick up from your hotel in Istanbul and transfer to the airport. (Pickup time may change.)
07:00 - Flight from Istanbul to Izmir. (Flight time may change according to season and availability.)
08:00 - Arrival at Izmir Airport and transfer to the Ephesus touring area. (Arrival airport and time may change according to availability.)
- Ephesus Ancient City: One of the most visited ancient sites in Europe, Ephesus attracts travelers from every continent who come to see its legendary Library of Celsus and Roman streets firsthand. Yet even with crowds, the site manages to feel vast, the ancient city covers a large area, and a guided walk spreads visitors naturally across multiple sections. Arriving early gives you the best light and the quietest streets.
- House of Virgin Mary: Located on a forested hillside about seven kilometers from Ephesus, the House of Virgin Mary offers a natural contrast to the open marble ruins of the ancient city. The drive up through pine trees, the cool air at the higher elevation, and the hush of the chapel interior all combine to make this feel like genuinely different experience. Most visitors appreciate the pace change after the busy main site.
- Temple of Artemis: Visitors who arrive at the Temple of Artemis site expecting to see dramatic ruins sometimes feel surprised by the modest reality of one reconstructed column in an open field. But that first impression quickly gives way to something more interesting once a guide explains what the field represents, the footprint of a building that defined an entire era of ancient architecture. Seeing nothing can be as powerful as seeing everything, when the story is told well.
16:00 - Transfer to your hotel in Kusadasi/Selcuk after the tour.
Overnight stay in Kusadasi/Selcuk.
Pamukkale Travertines & Hierapolis from Kusadasi/Selcuk
Meal: Breakfast & Lunch
08:00 - After breakfast, you will be picked up from your hotel and transferred toward Pamukkale.
- Pamukkale: Pamukkale stands out even in a country as historically rich as Turkey. Thermal springs carrying dissolved calcium carbonate have been spilling down this hillside in Denizli province for thousands of years, leaving behind the unmistakable white travertine terraces. UNESCO recognized both the geological formation and the ruins of Hierapolis above, making this one of Turkey's most complete heritage destinations.
- White Calcium Terraces: Conservation rules now control exactly where water flows across Pamukkale's travertine terraces, and for good reason. Decades of unrestricted access had dulled and damaged sections of the white calcium formations, so engineers now redirect the thermal water seasonally to allow recovery. The result is that the terraces today look far closer to their natural condition than they did thirty years ago.
- Hierapolis Ancient City: Few ancient sites in Turkey combine as many well-preserved monuments as Hierapolis does. The Greco-Roman city founded in the 2nd century BC includes a massive theater, colonnaded main streets, a large bathhouse, temples, and the extraordinary necropolis that stretches north of the city walls. Everything sits on a plateau above Pamukkale's famous terraces, giving the ruins an elevated position with long views across Denizli's plains.
- Cleopatra Antique Thermal Pool: Cleopatra Antique Thermal Pool sits within the Hierapolis ruins above Pamukkale, its warm 36-degree water surrounding a collection of submerged Roman columns. An earthquake in the 7th century toppled the columns into the water, and they have rested there ever since, a remarkable combination of geological and historical accident. Admission is not part of the tour price and is paid directly at the pool on the day. Swimming is not included in the tour price and is payable on-site.
16:00 - The Pamukkale tour ends and you will be transferred to your hotel in Pamukkale.
Overnight stay in Pamukkale.
Bus Transfer to Antalya & Settle In
Meal: Breakfast
After breakfast at the hotel, you will check out and prepare for the next regional transfer.
10:00 - Transfer to Pamukkale Bus Station. (Bus departure may change according to season and availability.)
10:30 - Intercity bus trip to Antalya, lasting about 3.5 hours.
14:15 - Arrival at Antalya Bus Station and transfer to your hotel.
The rest of the day is free, which gives the route a welcome pause after two sightseeing-heavy days in west Turkey. You can rest, walk in the city center, or ease into the Mediterranean part of the itinerary.
Overnight stay in Antalya.
Perge, Aspendos Theatre, Ancient Side & Lower Duden Waterfall
Meal: Breakfast & Lunch
08:00 - After breakfast, you will be picked up and transferred to the touring area.
- Perge: Perge is one of the best-preserved Roman cities in southern Turkey, a planned city with colonnaded streets, a massive agora, two impressive gates, and stadium ruins that give a sense of civic life on the Mediterranean's ancient coast. It is less visited than Ephesus, which makes the experience noticeably more spacious.
- Aspendos Theatre: The theatre at Aspendos is the best-preserved Roman theatre in the world, with tiered seating for fifteen thousand people still intact and a vaulted scaenae frons that has survived two thousand years with almost no reconstruction needed. It is the single most impressive Roman structure in Turkey outside of Ephesus itself.
- Ancient City of Side: Side occupies a narrow peninsula jutting into the Mediterranean and combines a working harbor town with substantial ancient ruins, the Temple of Apollo, the main colonnaded street, and a large Roman theatre all visible within walking distance of each other.
- Lower Duden Waterfall: Lower Duden Waterfall is where the Duden River drops directly from the cliffs into the Mediterranean, adding a scenic coastal stop to the Antalya touring day.
17:00 - The regional tour ends and you will be transferred back to your hotel in Antalya.
Overnight stay in Antalya.

Meal: Breakfast & Lunch
09:30 - Pick up from your hotel in Cappadocia.
Transfer to the north Cappadocia tour area.
- Devrent Valley (Pink Valley): Devrent Valley sometimes appears in Turkish tourism photography under the name Imagination Valley, a translation that captures something the geological description misses. Standing among the formations, you understand why imagination and geology feel inseparable here.
- Pasabag Open Air Museum: Your guide at Pasabag typically spends fifteen to twenty minutes explaining the geological and monastic history before giving you free time to explore and photograph. That combination of explanation and independent exploration is the most effective way to absorb what makes the site genuinely remarkable.
- Avanos Pottery Workshop: Avanos pottery workshops sell finished pieces at prices that reflect the real cost of hand production rather than tourist markup. Bowls, cups, and decorative plates all travel reasonably well, and the workshop team wraps purchases securely for the journey home.
- Goreme Panoramic View: From Goreme Panoramic View, you can trace the path the tour vehicle took through the valley below, connecting stops you have already visited to their geographic positions in the landscape. That retrospective mapping is satisfying in a way that no map or diagram could replicate.
- Zelve Open Air Museum: Zelve's position near Avanos on the Red Tour route means that it comes after the pottery workshop stop, a transition from artisan tradition to archaeological site that works well as a pacing decision. The shift from active demonstration to quiet historical exploration gives the afternoon a different texture from the morning.
- Uchisar Castle (exterior view): Your Red Tour stop at Uchisar is an exterior viewing stop, positioned at the terrace that gives the fullest frontal view of the castle rock. The exterior perspective is genuinely the better angle for photography: you see the full scale, all the carved openings, and the relationship between the rock and the village below simultaneously.
17:00 - Transfer back to your hotel in Cappadocia.
Overnight stay in Cappadocia.
Cappadocia Yellow Tour & Flight to Istanbul
Meal: Breakfast & Lunch
09:30 - Pick up from your hotel in Cappadocia after breakfast and check-out.
Transfer to the south Cappadocia tour area.
- Red Valley: Ancient Cappadocians left very few written records about Red Valley specifically, but its proximity to cave settlements suggests it was used as a natural corridor between communities. The valley's narrow passages and tall walls would have offered cover for travelers moving between Cavusin, Goreme, and Urgup on foot.
- Rose Valley (Gulludere Valley): Rose Valley's pinkish rock is composed primarily of compacted volcanic tuff with a higher calcium carbonate content than the harder basalt formations found elsewhere in Cappadocia. This softer composition made Gulludere's cliffs particularly easy to carve, which explains the high concentration of rock-cut spaces clustered in this one valley.
- Cavusin Village: Much of old Cavusin village is now structurally unstable, with sections of cliff face periodically slipping away and exposing previously interior rooms to the open air. Some areas are fenced off as a result, but the accessible sections still give a vivid picture of how cliff communities organized their daily lives in carved rock spaces.
- Pigeon Valley: Travelers who visit Pigeon Valley as part of the Yellow Tour typically see it from a viewpoint rather than walking its full length, which still gives a clear sense of the canyon scale and carved cliff character. Those with time to spare can descend into the valley and walk a section of the trail, which provides a completely different and more intimate perspective from ground level.
- Underground City: Most visitors to Cappadocia's underground city comment on how quickly the experience shifts from curiosity to genuine claustrophobic awareness as the tunnel ceiling drops and passage walls narrow. This physical response is appropriate, since the deliberate discomfort of the design was engineered to protect the community inside from the greater danger lurking above.
17:00 - Transfer to Nevsehir or Kayseri Airport after the tour. (Departure airport may change according to availability.)
20:40 - Flight from Cappadocia to Istanbul. (Flight time may change.)
21:50 - Arrival at an airport in Istanbul. (Arrival airport and time may change according to availability.)
Transfer to your hotel or central address in Istanbul. Your package ends after the final transfer.

Tour Overview
Why the Full Circle Route Earns Its Own Place
- Ephesus and Pamukkale launch the trip from the Aegean coast with the two most recognizable western Turkey destinations handled before the route turns south.
- Antalya adds a Mediterranean dimension that most Turkey tours skip, the Roman harbor, Perge, Aspendos, and the ancient city of Side bring a different kind of archaeology into the program.
- A free day in Antalya gives the itinerary genuine breathing space between the Aegean coast and the Cappadocia section.
- Two Cappadocia days mean both the Red Tour and Yellow Tour routes can be completed properly, north valley and south valley in sequence.
- The overnight bus from Antalya to Cappadocia saves a night's hotel while covering the distance efficiently, a practical choice that long-distance Turkish travelers use regularly.
For the same four-region route with Istanbul added, our 8 Days Istanbul, Cappadocia, Pamukkale, and Ephesus Tour covers similar highlights from a different city starting point.
If you want to extend this Antalya and Cappadocia journey with nine full days, our 9 Days Istanbul, Ephesus, Pamukkale, Antalya, Cappadocia Tour is the natural upgrade.

8 days covering the best of Turkey outside Istanbul. Ephesus was mind blowing, the Library of Celsus and the amphitheatre are so well preserved. Pamukkale terraces were unique and beautiful. Antalya was a nice coastal break with the old town and Perge ruins nearby. Cappadocia was the crown jewel though, the fairy chimneys and cave hotel were incredible and we added the balloon flight which was 10/10. All flights between cities included and on time. Hotels were good everywhere. Guides were informative at every stop. Really well put together itinerary.
