First, in 1822, Irish journalist Charles Maclaren correctly identified the city and by the year 1865, the first archaeological research was conducted by Frank Calvert. The legend of the Trojan War and the Trojan Horse has been wandering for centuries and proud of the Greek people. According to the legend, the Akhalis encompassed the city of Troy for nine years, but they could not take it. After many attacks, the famous and successful commander Odysseus thinks of making a wooden horse one day. With this cleverly made horse, the city of Troy conquered. The war region is located within the borders of the present-day Çanakkale. The Ministry of Culture decided in 1973 to have a replica of the horse. Since a wooden Trojan Horse, which was erected in the region representing the war, became devastated, Hollywood came to the region many years later and made the Troy legend a reality. The Hollywood production is on display at the seaside in the center of Çanakkale.
