Brought my copy of the Iliad with me and read passages while standing on the ancient walls lol. The wooden horse replica is way bigger than I imagined and climbing inside it was a highlight. The museum has some genuinely impressive artifacts from thousands of years of habitation. Guide Emre was passionatte and detailed. The Dardanelles ferry ride was scenic. Nine layers of civilzation at one site - honestly where else can you find that? Troy delivered everything I hoped for and more.

Climbing inside the wooden horse and looking out over the plains where the Trojan War supposedly happened gave me actual chills. I grew up reading Greek mythology and standing on those ancient walls was a childhood dream realized. The 9 layers of civilization are mind boggling when your guide explains them. Tuna was incredible - he wove together mythology, archaeology, and history in a way that made everything vivid and real. The Dardanelles ferry crossing was scenic and the countryside drive was beautifull. The museum artifacts were fasinating especially the ancient jewelry. One of the most emotionaly charged days of my life tbh.

Standing where the Trojan War happened was surreal. The ancient walls of Troy are right there in front of you and its hard to believe your walking on the same ground as Achilles and Hector. The wooden horse replica is huge and you can climb inside it which was really fun. Guide Tuna explained the different layers of Troy (theres actually 9 ancient cities stacked on top of each other!) and pointed out the ancient walls that Homer described. The artifacts on display were fasinating. You can see pottery, tools, and jewelry from thousands of years ago. The drive from Istanbul through the Dardanelles region is scenic too. We crossed by ferry which was a nice experience. Full day trip but totally worth it for anyone who loves mythology or ancient history. Troy is one of those legendary places you read about as a kid and actually being there is incredble.

My son studied the Iliad in school and was begging to visit Troy so we added this day trip. The look on his face when we arrived was priceless lol. The guide Selim explained all nine layers of the city and showed us where the famous walls stood and where the gates would have been. The sacrificial altars and the ancient agora were really interesting too. Its not a huge site but the history is massive. The ferry crossing to Canakkale was a nice break in the journey. Long day yes but we'd do it again in a heartbeat.

Walking where Achilles and Hector supposedly fought is honestly surreal. Yes its a long day from Istanbul (left at 6am got back around 10pm) but the drive itself is scenic, you cross the Dardanelles by ferry which was cool. The Troy ruins are smaller than you might expect but the guide Osman brought everything to life with stories from the Iliad. Standing on the 3700 year old city walls and looking out at the plains where the Greek ships would have been... gave me chills tbh. Lunch was good too. Worth the early alarm.
