Gallipoli Battlefield Areas → Brighton Beach → Beach Cemetery → ANZAC Cove → Ari Burnu → Lone Pine Cemetery → Johnston's Jolly → Shrapnel Valley → Turkish Memorial → The Nek → Chunuk Bair

Briefing

  • Gallipoli Battlefield Areas: Gallipoli peninsula holds some of WWI's most moving sites, from cliff-side trenches to vast Allied cemeteries.

  • Brighton Beach: Narrow and backed by towering bluffs, Brighton Beach was among the first stretches of Gallipoli soil the landing forces touched.

  • Beach Cemetery: Rows of white headstones sit within sound of the sea at Beach Cemetery, one of Gallipoli's most intimate burial grounds.

  • ANZAC Cove: ANZAC Cove is where Australia and New Zealand mark their shared national identity, remembered every April 25 at dawn services.

  • Ari Burnu: Historical records place the very first ANZAC landing craft at Ari Burnu, making it the actual ground-zero of the April 1915 campaign.

  • Lone Pine Cemetery: Fought between August 6 and 10, 1915, the Battle of Lone Pine produced seven Victoria Crosses and over 7,000 combined casualties.

  • Johnston's Jolly: Reconstructed trench sections at Johnston's Jolly let you stand in the same narrow channels where soldiers lived, waited, and fought.

  • Shrapnel Valley: Shrapnel Valley served as the main supply corridor between ANZAC Cove and the front lines during the entire eight-month campaign.

  • Turkish Memorial: Ataturk's tribute on this memorial, addressed to Allied mothers whose sons are buried here, is one of history's most generous war inscriptions.

  • The Nek: Roughly the width of a tennis court, the Nek is where the 8th and 10th Australian Light Horse Regiments mounted a catastrophic frontal charge.

  • Chunuk Bair: New Zealand troops took Chunuk Bair on August 8, 1915, holding it briefly before Ottoman counterattacks pushed them back off the summit.

  1. 17:00 - Transfer to your hotel in Canakkale.

After the Gallipoli battlefield route, transfer to your hotel in Canakkale for check-in and overnight stay.

Briefing

  • Troy Ancient City: UNESCO World Heritage listed since 1998, Troy spans nine distinct settlement layers from the early Bronze Age right through to the Roman period.

  • Trojan Horse (Movie Replica): Kids and adults alike queue to climb inside this large wooden horse replica, which doubles as a viewing platform above the entrance area.

  • Sacrificial Altars: Ancient Trojans made offerings at stone altars within the city's sanctuary areas, seeking favour from deities who governed war, harvest, and fate.

  • 3700-Year-Old City Walls: Constructed without mortar, Troy's Bronze Age walls were built by stacking massive stone blocks, a technique that has preserved them for 3,700 years.

  • Houses of Troy I (3000-2500 B.C.): Troy I marks the earliest known settlement on Hisarlik hill, dating to the early Bronze Age period between approximately 3000 and 2500 BC.

Tour Overview

Why Gallipoli and Troy Together Tell a Deeper Story

  • Same geography, different millennia: Both sites sit on the Dardanelles, the narrow waterway that made them militarily decisive 3,200 years apart. Understanding one sharpens the other.
  • A full afternoon each: Unlike day-trip formats that rush both, this overnight structure gives Gallipoli its own guided afternoon on Day 1 and Troy its own dedicated visit on Day 2.
  • Expert-guided context: Troy's nine settlement layers require archaeological interpretation on the ground. Gallipoli's landscape of cemeteries, trenches, and memorials needs historical framing that only a licensed guide can provide in person.
  • Direct Istanbul pickup: The bus departs from your hotel in Istanbul. No airport, no connecting transfer, just board and go.
  • All entrance fees and transfers included: Both sites, the Canakkale overnight, and the return journey to Istanbul are covered in the package price.

Gallipoli was more moving than I expected. I knew the basic history but standing at ANZAC Cove and reading the names on the headstones at Lone Pine hit me hard. Our guide told stories from both the Allied and Turkish perspectives which I really respected. Chunuk Bair memorial was powerful. Troy the next day was lighter in mood, the big horse is fun for photos and the ruins are genuinely interesting once the guide explains the layers. Hotel in Canakkale was clean and the evening walk by the strait was nice. Definitely worth the long bus ride from Istanbul.
