North Cappadocia Tour RouteExpand briefing

Devrent Valley (Pink Valley) → Pasabag Open Air Museum → Avanos Pottery Workshop → Goreme Panoramic View → Zelve Open Air Museum → Uchisar Castle (exterior view)

Briefing

  • Devrent Valley (Pink Valley): Unlike other Cappadocia stops, Devrent Valley has no man-made buildings, just raw nature carved into camel and dolphin silhouettes.

  • Pasabag Open Air Museum: Early Christian monks chose Pasabag for its isolation, carving chapels and hermit cells high into the fairy chimneys to escape the outside world.

  • Avanos Pottery Workshop: Avanos has been a pottery town for over four thousand years, its craft powered by the rich red clay carried downstream by the Kizilirmak River.

  • Goreme Panoramic View: Morning light hits Goreme valley from the east, and arriving at the Panoramic View before ten gives you the best combination of color and shadow.

  • Zelve Open Air Museum: Walking through Zelve Open Air Museum, you move through actual streets, kitchens, and bedrooms where Cappadocian families lived well into the twentieth century.

  • Uchisar Castle (exterior view): Visible from nearly every part of Cappadocia, Uchisar Castle is the region's most recognizable natural landmark and a defining Red Tour photo stop.

  1. 18:00 - Check in to your cave or stone hotel in Cappadocia.

Your hotel for the night is located within the Cappadocia region. Hotel category is standard; upgrades are available through the booking form.

South Cappadocia Tour RouteExpand briefing

Red Valley → Rose Valley (Gulludere Valley) → Cavusin Village → Pigeon Valley → Underground City

Briefing

  • Red Valley: Centuries of volcanic ash and wind carved Red Valley's towering orange pillars into shapes that early Christian settlers once used as natural landmarks.

  • Rose Valley (Gulludere Valley): Rose Valley contains several rock-cut Byzantine churches with faded frescoes still visible on interior walls, painted by early Christian communities centuries ago.

  • Cavusin Village: Cavusin was one of Cappadocia's first permanently inhabited settlements, with Greek-speaking communities carving homes into its cliffs more than a thousand years ago.

  • Pigeon Valley: Pigeon Valley earned its name from the thousands of carved pigeon houses that local farmers cut into cliff walls to collect droppings for fertilizer.

  • Underground City: Descending into Cappadocia's underground city, carved by early Christians as a refuge from invaders, feels like entering a secret world hidden beneath the surface.

  1. 19:00 - Transfer to Cappadocia Bus Station.

Your guide transfers the group from the tour area to the Cappadocia Bus Station for the return journey.

Good weekend trip from Ankara. I was in Ankara for work and had a free weekend so booked this. The transfer was comfortable, arrived in Cappadocia by lunch. The tour covered all the important spots, Goreme, the valleys, Uchisar. The cave hotel was a nice touch. Breakfast included was tasty, typical Turkish spread. Only reason for 4 stars is I wish we had more free time to wander on our own. But for a 2 day trip from Ankara its pretty solid and good value.
