The public toilet system at Ephesus is hillarious and fasinating at the same time. They had running water beneath marble seats arranged in a row with no privacy whatsoever. Romans used to sit there socializing while doing their buisness lol. But that tiny detail tells you so much about how advnced and yet different this civilization was. The whole site is like that, full of these moments where you go wait they had THAT 2000 years ago? The library is gorgeous, the theatre is massive, the terrace houses are stunning. Guide Leyla picked us up from Selcuk and explained everything in a way that was engaging without being dry. Really good tour.
