Tour Overview

Homer's Troy, the marble colonnades of Ephesus, and the snow-white terraces of Pamukkale sit along a single westward arc from Istanbul. A 3-day Troy, Ephesus, and Pamukkale tour traces that arc in sequence, covering Bronze Age ruins, Roman streets, and geological wonder with an overnight bus and a return flight keeping the pace tight.

Tour Itinerary

Visit Troy Then Bus South to Selcuk/Kusadasi

Early pickup, transfer to Troy, guided ancient-city route, lunch, intercity bus to Selcuk/Kusadasi, and hotel overnight.

  1. 06:30 - Pick up from your hotel in Istanbul.

Our team will pick you up from your centrally located hotel in Istanbul early in the morning and begin the overland transfer toward the Troy region. This first road connection is what makes the three-day west Turkey route work from Istanbul. Pickup timing may vary slightly according to your hotel location.

    Pickup time may change.

  2. Midday - Lunch break during the Troy touring day.

Lunch is included during the first day route and gives the long transfer-and-sightseeing schedule a needed pause. It helps the day stay comfortable before the later intercity bus section. Drinks during lunch are paid separately.

Troy Ancient City Tour RouteExpand briefing

Troy Ancient City → Trojan Horse (Movie Replica) → Sacrificial Altars → 3700-Year-Old City Walls → Houses of Troy I (3000-2500 B.C.) → The Agora of Troy

Briefing

  • Troy Ancient City: Schliemann's 19th-century excavations proved that the legendary Troy of Homer's Iliad was a real place, not just a poetic invention.

  • Trojan Horse (Movie Replica): After filming wrapped on the 2004 movie, the wooden horse prop was donated to the site and positioned at the entrance for public enjoyment.

  • Sacrificial Altars: Troy's sacrificial altars sit within the ancient temple precinct, where priests made offerings intended to protect the city from enemies and disasters.

  • 3700-Year-Old City Walls: Built around 1700 BC and reinforced over several centuries, Troy's city walls reflect an engineering tradition capable of withstanding prolonged military siege.

  • Houses of Troy I (3000-2500 B.C.): Standing at Troy I's foundations, you are looking at walls built five thousand years ago, making them among the oldest visible structures in Turkey.

  • The Agora of Troy: Merchants, philosophers, politicians, and priests all used Troy's agora, making it the crossroads of daily public life in the city's later centuries.

  1. Around 16:00 - Transfer to Canakkale Bus Station.

After the Troy visit ends, you will be transferred to Canakkale Bus Station for the next intercity section. This transfer is pre-arranged so the route stays connected. It is the link that moves the package from the north Aegean toward Selcuk/Kusadasi.

  2. 17:30 - Intercity bus to Selcuk/Kusadasi via Izmir.

You will continue by intercity bus toward Selcuk/Kusadasi after the Troy route. This overland segment is part of what allows the itinerary to cover multiple west Turkey highlights in three days. Arrival timing depends on the bus schedule.

  3. Midnight - Transfer to your hotel in Selcuk/Kusadasi.

When you reach the Selcuk/Kusadasi bus terminal, our local team will meet you and transfer you to your hotel. This last connection keeps the long first day practical and ends it cleanly. You stay overnight in Selcuk/Kusadasi.

Full Roman Ephesus Route from Selcuk/Kusadasi

Breakfast, hotel pickup, full Ephesus route, lunch, and return transfer to your Selcuk/Kusadasi hotel.

  1. 08:30 - Pick up from your hotel in Selcuk/Kusadasi.

After breakfast at the hotel, our team will pick you up and transfer you to the Ephesus area. This second day is built as a full archaeological route rather than a quick stop. The local hotel base makes the schedule far more comfortable.

    Pickup time may change.

  2. Midday - Lunch break during the Ephesus route.

Lunch is included during the second day tour and gives the long walking route a useful pause. It helps the city visit remain comfortable before the later Virgin Mary and Artemis stops. Drinks at lunch are paid separately.

Ephesus Ancient City Touring RouteExpand briefing

Ephesus Ancient City → Marble Streets → The Odeon → The Agora → The Temple of Hadrian → The Monumental Fountains → The Library of Celsus → The Great Amphitheatre → The Roman Baths → House of Virgin Mary → Temple of Artemis

Briefing

  • Ephesus Ancient City: Roman emperors, Christian apostles, and Greek traders all left their mark on Ephesus over the centuries.

  • Marble Streets: Some of the marble paving slabs in Ephesus weigh several tonnes yet were laid with remarkable precision.

  • The Odeon: Restoration work on the Odeon has reassembled many original marble blocks, letting visitors see the original layout clearly.

  • The Agora: Inscriptions recovered from the agora area name magistrates who regulated weights, measures, and prices in Roman Ephesus.

  • The Temple of Hadrian: Relief carvings on the inner walls of Hadrian's Temple depict the legendary founding of Ephesus in extraordinary detail.

  • The Monumental Fountains: Ephesus's fountain monuments were positioned at key intersections so that travelers approached the city through their cool spray.

  • The Library of Celsus: Scrolls stored in the Library of Celsus were read aloud to small groups in a central hall behind the grand facade.

  • The Great Amphitheatre: A ceremonial road called the Arcadian Way connected Ephesus's harbour directly to the front entrance of the Great Theatre.

  • The Roman Baths: Raised floor tiles in Ephesus's bath ruins expose the underground cavity where slaves stoked furnaces to heat the floor above.

  • House of Virgin Mary: Restoration of the stone building at the House of Virgin Mary near Ephesus revealed foundations consistent with a first-century dwelling.

  • Temple of Artemis: Marble drums from fallen columns of the Temple of Artemis were reused in the construction of Hagia Sophia in Constantinople.

  1. 16:00 - Transfer back to your hotel in Selcuk/Kusadasi.

After the Ephesus route ends, you will be transferred back to your hotel in Selcuk/Kusadasi. Returning to the same hotel keeps the middle of the package simple. You stay overnight in Selcuk/Kusadasi again.

Pamukkale Tour & Flight to Istanbul

Breakfast, hotel pickup, Pamukkale route, lunch, airport transfer, return flight, and hotel transfer in Istanbul.

  1. 07:15 - Pick up from your hotel after breakfast and check-out.

After breakfast and hotel check-out, our team will pick you up and begin the transfer toward Pamukkale. This early start is what makes the full route and evening flight realistic in one day. The hotel base in Selcuk/Kusadasi helps the timing stay organized.

    Pickup time may change.

  2. Midday - Lunch break during the Pamukkale route.

Lunch is included before or during the main Pamukkale and Hierapolis section. This pause is important because the day combines road transfer, walking, and an evening flight. Drinks during lunch are paid separately.

Pamukkale Touring RouteExpand briefing

Pamukkale → White Calcium Terraces → Hierapolis Ancient City → The Necropolis → Bath and Basilica → Frontinius Gate → Frontinius Street → Latrina → Northern Byzantine Gate → Fountain of the Tritons → The Temple of Apollon → Cleopatra Antique Thermal Pool

Briefing

  • Pamukkale: Clear morning light turns the white terraces golden, making every photo look almost too perfect to be real.

  • White Calcium Terraces: Getting here early in the morning means you walk the terraces with fewer visitors around, which makes the whole landscape feel even more surreal.

  • Hierapolis Ancient City: Hierapolis was a melting pot of cultures, Greek architecture, Roman planning, early Christian communities, and Byzantine fortifications all left their mark here.

  • The Necropolis: Relief carvings on the tomb facades depict everyday objects alongside mythological figures, looms, tools, and hunting scenes appear alongside gods and heroes.

  • Bath and Basilica: Hierapolis archaeology museum is housed inside a renovated section of the same bath complex just a short walk away, continuing the building's long history of public use.

  • Frontinius Gate: Frontinius Gate sits at the southern end of the main colonnaded avenue, so passing through it meant stepping directly onto Hierapolis's most important public street.

  • Frontinius Street: Walking the full length of Frontinius Street takes about ten minutes at a slow pace, passing fragments of architecture from every period of the city's history.

  • Latrina: Seeing a Roman latrina for the first time tends to shift perspective on how familiar ancient daily life could be, the engineering challenges are the same as today, just solved differently.

  • Northern Byzantine Gate: Earthquake damage visible in the cracked and leaning sections of the northern gate walls reflects the same seismic forces that repeatedly shook Hierapolis throughout its history.

  • Fountain of the Tritons: Roman cities competed with each other through public monuments, and an ornamental fountain like this one told visitors that Hierapolis took civic pride seriously.

  • The Temple of Apollon: The Plutonium cave beneath the temple was rediscovered by archaeologists in 2013, confirming ancient descriptions of its location and renewing scientific interest in the site.

  • Cleopatra Antique Thermal Pool: The combination of clear warm water, dissolved minerals, and submerged Roman architecture makes Cleopatra Pool one of the most photographed spots in Turkey, swimming entry is paid directly on-site, not covered by the tour (swimming is payable on-site).

  1. 16:00 - Transfer to Denizli Airport after the tour.

When the Pamukkale route ends, you will be transferred to Denizli Airport for the flight back to Istanbul. This final road segment is pre-arranged and keeps the last day manageable. It connects the natural and archaeological route directly to your return.

  2. 19:35 - Flight from Denizli to Istanbul.

You will take the evening domestic flight back to Istanbul after completing the third day's program. This flight is the reason the package can finish cleanly without another hotel night. The final airline schedule may vary according to availability.

    Flight time may change.

  3. 20:40 - Arrival in Istanbul and airport meet-up.

After landing in Istanbul, our team will meet you at the airport and connect you to the final hotel transfer. This matters after a full final day because the return remains organized to the end. Arrival airport may vary according to airline planning.

Arrival airport and time may change according to availability.

  4. After arrival - Transfer back to your hotel in Istanbul.

You will be transferred from the airport to your hotel in Istanbul, where the package ends. This last step keeps the return simple after a full three-day west Turkey route. Your tour concludes on arrival at the hotel.

Frontinius Gate at Hierapolis was impressive. A massive stone gateway that marked the entrance to the ancient spa city. The whole Pamukkale section on day 3 was more than just the white terraces, theres a full Roman city up there with a theatre, temples, and the biggest ancient cemetery I have ever seen. Combined with Troy's Bronze Age ruins on day 1 and Ephesus's Roman grandeur on day 2, this tour covers three very different periods of history. Great value for 3 days from Istanbul.

Took my parents on this for their 30th anniversary. They loved every minute. Mum couldnt stop talking about the white terraces at Pamukkale and Dad was fasinated by the Troy excavation layers. Ephesus between the two days was the perfect middle act. All the logistics were handled which was important for me since I was organising for older travellers. Great experience overall, guide Erkan was wonderful.
