Tour Overview

Land at Izmir Airport and start touring the same afternoon. A 3-day Ephesus and Pamukkale tour from Izmir picks you up at arrivals and drives straight to the Aegean coast, where the marble streets of ancient Ephesus and the mineral-white pools of Pamukkale fill two full guided days before a flight onward to Istanbul.

Tour Itinerary

Arrive at Izmir & Transfer to Kusadasi/Selcuk

Airport meet-up, transfer to Kusadasi/Selcuk, a free arrival day, and overnight stay on the Aegean coast.

  1. Flexible - Arrival at Izmir Airport and meet-up.

Our staff will welcome you at Izmir Airport with a name sign whenever you arrive on the first day. This flexible arrival rule is one of the main advantages of the package because it removes pressure from the inbound travel timing. Once you meet the team, the land part of the tour begins smoothly.

Arrival airport and time may change according to availability.

  2. After arrival - Transfer to your hotel in Kusadasi/Selcuk.

You will be transferred from Izmir Airport to your hotel in Kusadasi/Selcuk for check-in. Starting with a coastal overnight base instead of a same-day tour keeps the itinerary more relaxed and realistic. It also gives you time to recover from travel before the guided days begin.

  1. Rest of day - Free time in Kusadasi/Selcuk.

The rest of the first day is free for you to enjoy Kusadasi/Selcuk at your own pace. You can walk along the seafront, settle into the hotel area, or simply rest before the two guided touring days. This slow arrival day is an important part of why the package feels less rushed.

  2. Evening - Overnight stay in Kusadasi/Selcuk.

You will spend the first night in Kusadasi/Selcuk before the Ephesus tour on the next morning. This overnight logic supports a cleaner sightseeing flow than attempting a direct airport-to-archaeology jump. Day one ends with hotel accommodation in Kusadasi/Selcuk.

Ephesus Tour & Return to Kusadasi/Selcuk

Breakfast, road transfer to Ephesus, guided sightseeing, return transfer, and a second overnight stay in Kusadasi/Selcuk.

  1. 09:00 - Pick up from your hotel after breakfast.

After breakfast at your hotel, our team will pick you up and transfer you to the Ephesus area for the full-day guided tour. Starting from Kusadasi/Selcuk keeps the route direct and avoids another airport-style transfer. The day is organized around a clear historical program with lunch during the tour.

Pickup time and airport may change.

Ephesus Ancient City Touring RouteExpand briefing

Ephesus Ancient City → Marble Streets → The Odeon → The Agora → The Temple of Hadrian → The Monumental Fountains → The Library of Celsus → The Great Amphitheatre → The Roman Baths → House of Virgin Mary → Temple of Artemis

Briefing

  • Ephesus Ancient City: At its peak, Ephesus held over 250,000 residents, making it one of Rome's largest eastern ports.

  • Marble Streets: Ephesus's central marble road connected the upper city gates all the way down to the ancient harbor.

  • The Odeon: City council members gathered in the Odeon to debate laws and budgets that governed all of Roman Ephesus.

  • The Agora: Stalls selling grain, textiles, and pottery once filled every meter of the commercial agora in ancient Ephesus.

  • The Temple of Hadrian: Relief panels inside the Temple of Hadrian show gods, emperors, and mythological scenes in remarkable carved detail.

  • The Monumental Fountains: Carved sea creatures, river gods, and nymphs decorated the stone facades of Ephesus's public water monuments.

  • The Library of Celsus: Roman architect Vitrusius Pollio designed double walls for the Library of Celsus in Ephesus to protect scrolls from humidity.

  • The Great Amphitheatre: Three tiers of marble seating rise steeply above the stage of Ephesus's amphitheater, offering sweeping views over the ruins.

  • The Roman Baths: Vaulted brick arches of Ephesus's Scholastica Baths still stand to considerable height, giving visitors a sense of the original scale.

  • House of Virgin Mary: Pope Paul VI visited the House of the Virgin Mary near Ephesus in 1967, and subsequent popes have made the same pilgrimage.

  • Temple of Artemis: A single reconstructed column rising from a marshy field is all that remains of ancient Ephesus's most celebrated monument.

  1. 16:00 - Transfer back to your hotel in Kusadasi/Selcuk.

After the Ephesus tour ends, you will be transferred back to your hotel in Kusadasi/Selcuk. This return helps keep the package stable and avoids changing bases too often. You can rest before the inland Pamukkale day ahead.

  2. Evening - Second overnight stay in Kusadasi/Selcuk.

You will spend a second night in Kusadasi/Selcuk before the final Pamukkale day. This overnight logic gives the route more breathing room and keeps the tour from feeling compressed. Day two ends with hotel accommodation in Kusadasi/Selcuk.

Tour Pamukkale and Fly to Istanbul

Breakfast, inland transfer to Pamukkale, guided sightseeing, airport transfer, and evening flight to Istanbul.

  1. 08:00 - Pick up from your hotel after breakfast and check-out.

After breakfast and hotel check-out in Kusadasi/Selcuk, our team will pick you up and transfer you inland toward Pamukkale. This longer road section is built into the route so the package can connect the coast to the thermal interior in one final touring day. The transfer also keeps the final flight departure practical later in the evening.

Pickup time and airport may change.

  2. On the road - Scenic drive toward Denizli and Pamukkale.

The road toward Pamukkale crosses inland scenery and gives the last day a different geographical feel from the coastal base in Kusadasi/Selcuk. That shift matters because the package is designed to show two distinct sides of western Turkey. The drive is part of the transition from archaeological coast to thermal landscape.

  3. 12:00 - Lunch before the Pamukkale touring route.

Upon arrival in the Pamukkale area, you will have lunch at a local restaurant before the guided sightseeing begins. This meal break helps the day feel more balanced after the inland drive from Kusadasi/Selcuk. It also gives a natural pause before the white terraces and ancient spa-city ruins.

Pamukkale Touring RouteExpand briefing

Pamukkale → White Calcium Terraces → Hierapolis Ancient City → The Necropolis → Bath and Basilica → Frontinius Gate → Frontinius Street → Latrina → Northern Byzantine Gate → Fountain of the Tritons → The Temple of Apollon → Cleopatra Antique Thermal Pool

Briefing

  • Pamukkale: Pamukkale means 'Cotton Castle' in Turkish, and the name perfectly describes the cloud-like white formations that rise above the valley.

  • White Calcium Terraces: Each pool at Pamukkale differs slightly, some wide and shallow, others narrow with curved calcium ridges half a meter tall.

  • Hierapolis Ancient City: Hierapolis sits at an elevation that gives visitors sweeping views over the Curuksu valley on one side and the white calcium terraces on the other.

  • The Necropolis: Walking through the Necropolis is like reading an ancient city in reverse, where the living city ends, the city of the dead begins, spreading out across the hillside.

  • Bath and Basilica: When Byzantine Christians took over the bath, they added an apse on the eastern wall, the standard architectural signal that a Roman building had been converted to Christian worship.

  • Frontinius Gate: Frontinius Gate survived several major earthquakes largely intact, and its lower courses of stone are among the best-preserved sections of the Hierapolis city boundary.

  • Frontinius Street: Side streets branched off Frontinius Street at regular intervals, following the strict grid layout that Roman urban planners applied consistently across the empire.

  • Latrina: Carved seat surfaces in the latrina show smoothing from centuries of use, evidence that this facility was in regular service for a very long time.

  • Northern Byzantine Gate: Hierapolis's Byzantine walls extended across the northern end of the site to close the gap between the steep hillside on one side and the travertine cliffs on the other.

  • Fountain of the Tritons: Relief carving on the Triton Fountain shows high-quality Roman stonework from the Imperial period, when Hierapolis had the wealth to invest in decorative public infrastructure.

  • The Temple of Apollon: Carved column drums and large stone platform blocks from the Temple of Apollon are still visible at the site, showing the scale of the original structure.

  • Cleopatra Antique Thermal Pool: Roman columns, capitals, and building fragments rest on the sandy bottom of Cleopatra Pool, giving swimmers the surreal experience of floating above an ancient ruin, entry is payable on-site, not included in the tour.

  1. 16:00 - Transfer to Denizli Airport.

After the Pamukkale route ends, you will be transferred to Denizli Airport for the return flight to Istanbul. This final airport connection lets the package finish without another overnight stay. It keeps the route practical for travelers who need to be back in Istanbul on the same day.

  2. 19:30 - Flight from Denizli to Istanbul.

You will take your domestic flight from Denizli to Istanbul at the end of the third day. Flight times can change according to season and airline availability, but the program is built around a same-day return. This flight closes the land package with an efficient final connection.

    Flight time may change.

  3. 20:20 - Arrival in Istanbul.

After landing in Istanbul, the main travel part of the package is complete. Arrival airport may vary depending on airline operations and seasonal schedules. Your 3-day western Turkey route ends at the airport.

Arrival airport and time may change according to availability.

Perfect short Turkey trip if your flying into Izmir. We only had 3 days and this covered the two places we most wanted to see. Ephesus was incredible, way bigger than expected. Walking on those ancient marble streets gave me chills. Pamukkale was stunning, the warm water on the white travertines felt so relaxing. Hotel in Kusadasi had a sea view which was a nice bonus. All transfers between cities were comfortable and the guides were excellent. Would reccommend this to anyone with limited time.
