Tour Overview

Two destinations, six days, no rush. A 6-day Istanbul and Cappadocia package gives you two full days exploring the Old City and Bosphorus, two complete Cappadocia sightseeing routes through fairy chimneys and underground cities, and enough downtime to enjoy rooftop dinners and morning walks without checking the clock.

Tour Itinerary

Day 1 ─

Arrival in Istanbul & Hotel Check-In

Arrive at Istanbul Airport or Sabiha Gokcen Airport and meet our representative holding a sign.

Transfer from the airport to your hotel in Istanbul.

Rest of the day at leisure.

If you are already staying in Istanbul, your tour services will begin the following day.

Overnight stay in Istanbul.

Day 2 ─

Istanbul Old City Guided Tour

Meal: Breakfast

08:30 - Transfer from your hotel to the Sultanahmet area to begin the Old City route.

Spend the day among Istanbul's best-known imperial landmarks and one of its most famous market districts.

  • Hagia Sophia: Hagia Sophia is the defining monument of Istanbul's layered identity because it has functioned as an imperial basilica, a mosque, a museum, and a mosque again across fifteen centuries. Standing inside, the scale of the dome and the competing visual languages of Byzantine and Ottoman art make the city's history feel physically present.
  • Blue Mosque: The Blue Mosque faces Hagia Sophia across Sultanahmet Square and holds its own ground through the symmetry of its six minarets and the cool luminosity of its iznik-tiled interior. It remains one of the few active Ottoman mosques still visited on a guiding circuit without losing any of its sacred atmosphere.
  • Ancient Hippodrome / Sultanahmet Square: Once the sporting and political heart of Byzantine Constantinople, this open square still preserves traces of the old imperial racecourse through monuments such as the Egyptian Obelisk and the Serpentine Column.
  • Grand Bazaar: The Grand Bazaar has operated continuously since the fifteenth century and today shelters more than four thousand shops under its vaulted stone corridors. The shift from imperial monuments to living commerce helps the day feel complete rather than exclusively archaeological.

Around 13:00 - The tour ends at the Grand Bazaar.

Rest of the day at leisure after the guided route ends in the Grand Bazaar area.

Overnight stay in Istanbul.

Day 3 ─

Fly to Cappadocia & North Cappadocia Tour

Meal: Breakfast & Lunch

03:45 - Pick up from your hotel and transfer to the airport. (Pickup time and airport may change.)

06:20 - Flight from Istanbul to Cappadocia. (Flight time may change.)

07:55 - Arrival at Kayseri or Nevsehir Airport. (Arrival airport and time may change according to availability.)

Transfer from the airport to the Cappadocia tour area.

Begin your Cappadocia stay with the classic northern route and its most recognizable formations.

  • Devrent Valley (Imagination Valley): Children particularly enjoy Devrent Valley's animal-spotting game, and groups with younger travelers often spend longer here than at any other Red Tour stop. The combination of open space, imaginative shapes, and no rope barriers makes it genuinely engaging for all ages.
  • Pasabag Open Air Museum: Pasabag's site path is well-maintained and clearly signed, making it navigable without physical difficulty for most visitors. The only area requiring care is the uneven stone ground near the chimney bases, where centuries of footfall have worn the surface smooth and slightly slippery.
  • Avanos Pottery Workshop: Avanos ceramics are sold in Istanbul's Grand Bazaar and in specialty craft stores across Turkey, which means the pieces you buy at source in Avanos are typically available at a fraction of the market price you would pay elsewhere. Knowing that context makes the showroom visit more than a tourist transaction.
  • Goreme Panoramic View: Goreme Panoramic View sits above Goreme National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the perspective from the viewpoint helps explain exactly what UNESCO recognized: an entire landscape sculpted by geology and shaped by human civilization over two thousand years.
  • Zelve Open Air Museum: Exterior facades of Zelve's cave clusters, with carved windows at four or five different levels, produce compositions that look architecturally designed but emerged entirely from practical decisions about where to carve the next room. What appears as order is a record of accumulated choices made over centuries.
  • Uchisar Castle (exterior view): Uchisar Castle's exterior viewing stop is accessible for all fitness levels and requires only a short walk from the parking area. The paved terrace has enough room for a full group to photograph simultaneously, which makes the logistics straightforward even when other tour groups are present.

17:00 - After the tour, transfer to your hotel in Cappadocia.

Overnight stay in Cappadocia.

Day 4 ─

Meal: Breakfast & Lunch

09:30 - Pick up from your hotel in Cappadocia for the second guided route.

The final Cappadocia day focuses on valley scenery, village traces, and underground history before your evening flight back to Istanbul.

  • Red Valley: Red Valley's rock faces contain natural horizontal striations, each band representing a distinct volcanic event separated by thousands of years. Geologists visiting Cappadocia often cite Red Valley as one of the clearest visible records of the region's volcanic history.
  • Rose Valley (Gulludere Valley): At certain points along Rose Valley's trail, the canyon narrows to just a few meters wide, with cliff walls rising on both sides and the sky reduced to a pale strip overhead. These constricted passages open suddenly into wider chambers, creating a dramatic sequence of compression and release that makes the walk through Gulludere Valley feel genuinely theatrical.
  • Cavusin Village: Exploring Cavusin without a guide is possible and rewarding, but a knowledgeable guide adds context that transforms the abandoned rooms from interesting caves into a legible social landscape. Understanding which rooms were churches, which were homes, and which connected to communal areas changes how you read every carved surface you encounter.
  • Pigeon Valley: Some of Pigeon Valley's dovecotes are still in active use by local farming families, and flocks of white and grey pigeons can be seen launching from and returning to cliff openings throughout the day. Their constant movement across the canyon walls adds a living, kinetic element to a landscape that might otherwise seem purely geological.
  • Underground City: Entering Cappadocia's underground city through its low carved doorway and descending the first narrow staircase makes the scale of what follows genuinely surprising. What starts as a single tunnel opens into a network of interconnected rooms, corridors, and vertical shafts that extends further and deeper than most visitors expect from the modest entrance above ground.

17:00 - Transfer to the airport after the Cappadocia tour.

20:30 - Flight from Cappadocia to Istanbul. (Flight time may change.)

21:45 - Arrival in Istanbul. (Arrival airport and time may change according to availability.)

Meet our team after landing at the airport.

Transfer from the airport to your hotel in Istanbul.

Overnight stay in Istanbul.

Day 5 ─

Bosphorus Cruise & Istanbul Afternoon

Meal: Breakfast & Lunch

Morning at leisure in Istanbul before your afternoon cruise pickup.

13:30 - Transfer from your hotel to the pier for the Bosphorus Cruise.

Board the Bosphorus Cruise and enjoy lunch on the water while sailing between Europe and Asia.

  • Dolmabahce Palace: Dolmabahce Palace reveals its full ceremonial facade from the Bosphorus because the 600-metre waterfront elevation was designed to be seen from the water. Its European-style grandeur represents the Ottoman court's nineteenth-century cultural pivot in the most visible possible way.
  • Ortakoy Mosque: Ortakoy Mosque sits directly beside the first Bosphorus bridge and offers one of the most photographed combinations of Ottoman and modern Istanbul. Its small scale and precise waterside placement make it one of the most elegant moments on the cruise.
  • Rumeli Fortress: Rumeli Fortress was built by Mehmed II in 1452 as the final military preparation for the Ottoman conquest of Constantinople. Seeing its towers from the water makes the strategic importance of the narrows completely clear.
  • Bosphorus waterfront mansions: The wooden yali mansions along the Bosphorus shores represent an older and quieter Istanbul lifestyle. They shift the visual narrative of the cruise from imperial power to domestic elegance and give the waterway a more personal and human-scale story.

17:30 - After the Bosphorus Cruise, transfer back to your hotel in Istanbul.

Overnight stay in Istanbul.

Note: On private tours, the Bosphorus Cruise is operated on a group-shared basis, while guiding service and transfers are private. If you would like a private Bosphorus Cruise, please ask us.

Day 6 ─

Istanbul Departure Transfer

Meal: Breakfast

According to your departure time, transfer from your hotel to Istanbul Airport or Sabiha Gokcen Airport.

Your tour ends here.

Tour Overview

Why the Two-Icon Formula Delivers More Than Either Alone

  • Istanbul beyond the basics: Day 2 covers Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, and the Grand Bazaar with a licensed guide, while Day 5 adds the Bosphorus Cruise for a completely different perspective on the same city.
  • Two full Cappadocia days: Both the north (Red Tour) and south (Yellow Tour) routes run on consecutive days, giving the region the time it needs rather than cramming it into a single rushed day.
  • Bosphorus Cruise included: The half-day cruise passes Dolmabahce Palace, Rumeli Fortress, and Ortakoy Mosque from the water, a perspective that no street-level tour can replicate.
  • Hot air balloon option available: Day 4 is the morning in Cappadocia that allows balloon bookings, giving guests the chance to add this experience when planning their trip.
  • Smooth round-trip structure: The package begins and ends in Istanbul, with the domestic flight handling the Cappadocia connection cleanly in each direction.

Want two more nights to explore Istanbul and Cappadocia without rushing? Our 8-day Istanbul and Cappadocia tour expands this trip with additional days in both cities.
For a broader tour that adds Ephesus and Pamukkale to the route, our 7 Days Istanbul, Cappadocia, Pamukkale, and Ephesus Tour is the natural next step.

6 days covering Istanbul and Cappadocia was the perfect combo. Istanbul days were packed with the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Grand Bazaar, Bosphorus cruise - all the essentials. Then we flew to Cappadocia and it was like landing on another planet. Fairy chimneys, underground cities, cave hotels, balloon flight. Guide Tuna was with us the whole time and he was absolutley brilliant. Funny, smart, and genuinley cared about us having a good time. This package had everything we needed for a Turkey trip.

Istanbul and Cappadocia are like two completely different planets and seeing both in one trip was amazing. Istanbul is all mosques and bazaars and boats. Cappadocia is valleys and underground cities and cave hotels. The 6 day package gave us enough time to enjoy both without feeling rushed. Bosphorus cruise on day 5 was a perfect end to the Istanbul portion. Would book again in a heartbeat.
