5 Days Cappadocia and Antalya Tour from Istanbul
VideoTour Overview
Volcanic valleys one day, Mediterranean coastline the next. A Cappadocia and Antalya tour from Istanbul pairs two full days exploring fairy chimneys and underground cities with free time on the Turkish Riviera and a guided route along Antalya's ancient harbor. Domestic flights handle the distance, so every day is spent sightseeing rather than sitting on a bus.
Tour Itinerary
Fly from Istanbul and Start with North Cappadocia
Meal: Lunch
04:00 - Our team will pick you up from your hotel in Istanbul early in the morning and transfer you to the airport. (Pickup time and airport may change according to flight availability.)
07:20 - Take the morning flight from Istanbul to Cappadocia. (Flight time may change.)
09:00 - After landing, meet our staff at the airport exit and continue directly to the first touring area. (Arrival airport and time may change according to availability.)
- Devrent Valley (Pink Valley): Devrent Valley sits just a few kilometers from Pasabag, and the contrast between the two stops is one of the Red Tour's most deliberate design choices. Devrent gives you nature in its purest form; Pasabag shows what happened when humans decided to live inside that same rock.
- Pasabag Open Air Museum: Pasabag Open Air Museum includes several smaller fairy chimneys alongside the famous tall formations, and many visitors focus only on the largest group and miss the quieter clusters toward the back of the site. Taking the full loop path rather than just approaching the tallest chimneys is worth the extra few minutes.
- Avanos Pottery Workshop: Some Avanos family workshops have been continuously operating since the early twentieth century, with techniques and clay preparation methods passed down through direct apprenticeship. Buying a piece from a family workshop means bringing home an object with a traceable artisan lineage.
- Goreme Panoramic View: From Goreme Panoramic View in spring, the valley floor shows patches of green between the rock formations, a seasonal color that makes the pale chimneys stand out with unusual clarity. That contrast disappears in summer when the landscape dries to uniform brown and ochre.
- Zelve Open Air Museum: Zelve's three interconnected valleys each contain their own cluster of cave dwellings carved at multiple levels and connected by interior tunnels and carved staircases. Walking the full loop through all three valleys takes about forty minutes and reveals far more variety than a single-valley visit.
- Uchisar Castle (exterior view): Uchisar Castle's rock is noticeably more porous and fragile than it appears from the viewing terrace, and structural deterioration has closed parts of the interior to visitors in recent years. The exterior stop on the Red Tour is therefore not a compromise but often the more comprehensive experience of the two options.
17:00 - Transfer to your hotel after the north Cappadocia route.

Meal: Breakfast & Lunch
09:30 - After breakfast, pick up from your hotel and transfer to the south Cappadocia route.
- Red Valley: Red Valley's trail follows the natural contours of the canyon rather than a constructed path, weaving between rock bases and over low ridges without guardrails. The absence of barriers keeps the experience feeling wild and natural, even though the route itself is well-established and easy to follow.
- Rose Valley (Gulludere Valley): Rose Valley's trail descends from the upper plateau into the canyon floor and then climbs gently through orchards and past carved cliff facades before emerging near Cavusin. The variation in terrain and constant change of scenery makes the walk through Gulludere Valley feel much shorter than its actual length suggests.
- Cavusin Village: Carved wine presses found at the base of Cavusin's cliff confirm that viticulture was a central part of the community's economy alongside farming and religious activity. Cappadocia's volcanic soil produces distinctive mineral-rich wines, and Cavusin's location in the valley gave it access to the same fertile land worked by its neighbors.
- Pigeon Valley: Pigeon Valley's cliff walls contain layers of both carved pigeon houses and natural rock cavities formed by weathering, and distinguishing between them requires a close look at the regularity of each opening's shape. Carved houses have consistent rounded or rectangular profiles and smooth interior surfaces, while natural cavities are irregular in shape and rough inside.
- Underground City: Cappadocia's underground cities were engineering achievements of extraordinary ambition, cut entirely by hand through layers of soft volcanic tuff without mortar, timber, or metal reinforcement. Ventilation shafts drilled vertically from the surface provided fresh air and limited light to rooms several floors below ground, keeping communities alive during extended periods underground.
17:00 - Transfer back to your hotel after the tour.
Overnight stay in Cappadocia.

Tour the Classical Coast of Antalya and Fly Back to Istanbul
Meal: Breakfast & Lunch
08:00 - After breakfast and hotel check-out, transfer to the touring area for the final guided day.
- Perge Ancient City: Perge gives the Antalya side of the package a strong archaeological beginning with avenues, gates, and civic remains. It shifts the trip from pure coastal atmosphere to classical history.
- Aspendos Ancient Theater: Aspendos stands out through preservation and scale, especially for travelers who want one theater stop that still feels structurally powerful. It is one of the clearest highlights of the entire Antalya section.
- Side Ancient City: Side mixes ruins and sea setting in a way that feels different from inland archaeological sites. This helps the final day keep its Mediterranean identity instead of becoming another museum-style route.
- Kursunlu Waterfall: Kursunlu adds a greener and softer finish after the stone-heavy ancient sites. It gives the package a final nature pause before the airport transfer.
18:00 - Transfer to Antalya Airport after the tour.
21:00 - Evening flight from Antalya to Istanbul. (Flight time may change according to availability.)
22:15 - On arrival in Istanbul, meet our transfer staff and continue to your hotel. (Arrival airport and time may change according to availability.)

Tour Overview
Why Pair Cappadocia with the Mediterranean Coast?
- You cover cave-carved highlands and sunny shoreline without needing a longer itinerary to justify the contrast.
- Flights and hotel switches are pre-arranged, so the inland-to-coast jump feels seamless rather than stressful.
- The Cappadocia section is packed with guided stops, while Antalya balances the trip with leisure days and coastal archaeology.
- It suits first-time visitors to Turkey who want a varied five-day snapshot instead of staying in one region.
If you want more of Turkey's south and west, our 7-day Cappadocia, Pamukkale and Antalya tour adds the white travertine terraces of Pamukkale to the same Antalya experience.
For a route that pairs Cappadocia with Istanbul instead, our 6-day Cappadocia and Istanbul tour is a natural fit.
You can also compare this trip with our 5-day Cappadocia, Ephesus and Pamukkale tour if the Aegean coast appeals to you more.

Cappadocia and Antalya are such a great combo. You get the surreal landscapes and cave hotels of Cappadocia plus the beautiful Mediterranean coast and ancient ruins around Antalya. Day 1-2 in Cappadocia we did the balloon ride, explored the valleys and underground cities. Day 3-4 in Antalya we visited Aspendos theatre, Perge ruins and had time to enjoy the old town and beaches. Day 5 was a relaxed morning before flying back. Guide Tuna was with us the whole time and was amazing. Hotels were lovely, espescially the cave hotel in Cappadocia. Great 5 day trip that covers two very different sides of Turkey.

Duden Waterfalls pouring into the turquoise Mediterranean was one of those scenes that make you stop and just stare. That was day 4 in Antalya. Before that we had 2 incredible days in Cappadocia with the ballon ride, fairy chimneys, underground city, and the most amazing cave hotel I've ever seen. Then flew to Antalya for Aspendos theatre, Perge ruins, Kaleici old town, and the waterfalls. Five days covering two completely diffrent sides of Turkey and every single day was a highlight. Guide Selim was warm, funny, and really good at reading what the group needed. Hotels were comfy in both cities. Transfers all ran on time.
