Gallipoli Battlefield Areas - Brighton Beach - Beach Cemetery - ANZAC Cove - Ari Burnu - Lone Pine Cemetery - Johnston's Jolly - Shrapnel Valley - Turkish Memorial - The Nek - Chunuk Bair

Briefing

  • Gallipoli Battlefield Areas: Eight months of brutal fighting in 1915 turned this quiet Aegean peninsula into a defining chapter of modern history.

  • Brighton Beach: Soldiers landing on Brighton Beach in 1915 had no cover except the pre-dawn darkness and a few metres of sand.

  • Beach Cemetery: Barely a hundred metres from the shore, Beach Cemetery is one of Gallipoli's most affecting stops simply because of its location.

  • ANZAC Cove: Recognized worldwide as the symbolic heart of the ANZAC story, this quiet cove draws pilgrims from across the Southern Hemisphere.

  • Ari Burnu: Just north of ANZAC Cove, Ari Burnu is where soldiers first scrambled ashore, disoriented and already under fire from the cliffs.

  • Lone Pine Cemetery: Visitors from Australia and New Zealand often spend longer at Lone Pine than anywhere else on the battlefield, reading every headstone they pass.

  • Johnston's Jolly: Walking the reconstructed trenches at Johnston's Jolly, you understand immediately why both sides used periscopes rather than looking over the parapet.

  • Shrapnel Valley: Shrapnel Valley cemetery sits in the same gully where thousands of soldiers moved up and down the line through eight months of fighting.

  • Turkish Memorial: Dominating a hillside above the battlefield, the Turkish Memorial is visible from many points across the Gallipoli peninsula.

  • The Nek: Visitors to the Nek often struggle to comprehend how such a small piece of ground could have produced such enormous casualties so quickly.

  • Chunuk Bair: New Zealand's primary Gallipoli memorial sits at Chunuk Bair, commemorating the Wellington Infantry Battalion and the August 1915 offensive.

  1. 17:00 - Tour ends and transfer back to Canakkale.

At the end of the battlefield route, you are transferred back to your hotel in Canakkale.

Tour Overview

Can you really see Gallipoli in half a day?

  • Six hours cover all ten key memorial sites from Brighton Beach to Chunuk Bair without turning the visit into a rushed photo dash across the peninsula.
  • Afternoon departure fits around ferry arrivals and morning plans so travelers passing through Canakkale can add the battlefield without losing another full day.
  • Expert guided storytelling brings each trench and headstone to life with campaign context that turns scattered ruins into a coherent narrative you will remember.

  • Round-trip Canakkale hotel transfers remove all logistics so you step out of your hotel and step into the ANZAC landscape with zero planning required.

As a Kiwi this was emotional. Standing at Anzac Cove and Lone Pine Cemetery, reading the names on the headstones, some of them were barely 18 years old. Our guide was respectful and clearly passionate about the history. He explained both the ANZAC and Turkish perspectives which I appreciated. The half day format from Canakkale was perfect, enough time to see all the important sites without feeling rushed. If your from NZ or Australia this is a must. Bring tissues tho.
