Tour Overview

Six archaeological regions in six days, each one chosen for genuine historical weight. A 6-day Turkey heritage tour from Istanbul links the marble streets of Ephesus, the hilltop acropolis of Pergamon, the lesser-visited Ionian sites of Priene, Miletos, and Didyma, the white terraces of Pamukkale, and the cave settlements of Cappadocia into one culture-first route.

Tour Itinerary

Day 1 ─

Fly to Izmir & Ephesus Tour

Meal: Lunch

Pick up from your Istanbul hotel and transfer to the airport.

07:00 - Flight from Istanbul to Izmir. (Flight time may change based on season and availability.)

08:10 - Arrival at Izmir Airport and transfer to Ephesus to meet your guide.

  • Ephesus Ancient City: Ephesus holds a special place in early Christian history, the Apostle Paul preached here, and the city features prominently in his letters as well as in the Book of Revelation. Walking past the sites where those events unfolded connects the ancient city to religious history that reaches far beyond classical Rome. For visitors of faith and secular history lovers alike, that layer adds real depth to the visit.
  • House of Virgin Mary: A visit to the House of Virgin Mary takes about 20 to 30 minutes, which is enough time to walk the grounds, enter the chapel, stop at the wishing wall, and fill a bottle at the sacred spring. The site is compact but fully realized, each element has its purpose, and none of them feel like tourist additions. It is one of the few pilgrimage sites that manages to stay genuinely devotional despite large visitor numbers.
  • Temple of Artemis: Reconstruction of the single surviving column at the Temple of Artemis site was assembled from fragments found at the location, giving visitors at least one full vertical element to understand the original proportions. At 18 meters, a single column of the Artemision was taller than the entire facade of many ordinary Roman temples. Standing next to it and looking up gives you one of the clearest measurements of scale available from the ancient wonder.

16:00 - Ephesus tour ends.

Transfer to your hotel in Kusadasi.

Overnight stay in Kusadasi

Day 2 ─

Pergamon Tour

Meal: Breakfast & Lunch

08:30 - Pick up from your hotel and transfer to the Pergamon tour meeting point.

  • Acropolis of Pergamon: Pergamon's hilltop acropolis delivers commanding views and monumental remains that rival anything on the Aegean coast. The steep approach alone makes clear why this was one of antiquity's most powerful cultural capitals.
  • Temple of Trajan and Library Area: These remains reveal the intellectual and imperial aspirations that set Pergamon apart from smaller city-states. The library quarter, once home to the ancient world's second-greatest scroll collection, deepens the stop's scholarly significance.
  • Theater of Pergamon: The vertiginous theater carved into the hillside is one of the most dramatic ancient performance spaces in Turkey. Its steep rake and valley backdrop make it an unforgettable visual highlight of the heritage route.
  • Asklepion: Asklepion shifts the focus from political power to ancient medicine and healing ritual, broadening the day's historical range considerably. Its tunnels, therapy rooms, and sacred spring show how health care functioned as civic institution.

16:00 - Pergamon tour ends.

Transfer back to your hotel in Kusadasi.

Overnight stay in Kusadasi

Day 3 ─

Pamukkale & Hierapolis Tour

Meal: Breakfast & Lunch

08:00 - Pick up from your hotel in Kusadasi and transfer to Selcuk for the Pamukkale bus.

08:30 - Departure from Selcuk to Pamukkale. The journey takes approximately 3 hours with a short break.

11:45 - Arrival in Pamukkale.

13:00 - Guided Pamukkale and Hierapolis tour begins.

  • Pamukkale: A hillside turned completely white by thousands of years of thermal activity, that is Pamukkale in a single sentence. The mineral springs here carry dissolved calcium carbonate, which builds up layer by layer into smooth travertine terraces. UNESCO recognized the site's extraordinary combination of natural beauty and ancient history, and both rewards are still here waiting for you.
  • White Calcium Terraces: Pamukkale's calcium terraces look different from every angle. From below, they appear as a bright white cliff face. From above, they open into a series of wide turquoise pools. Standing inside one of those pools on warm smooth travertine, with the plains of Denizli spread out in front of you, the perspective shifts entirely, and this hillside suddenly feels as extraordinary as its UNESCO status suggests.
  • Hierapolis Ancient City: Standing in the theater at Hierapolis, you look out over the same white travertine hillside the Romans could see from their seats two thousand years ago. The theater is one of the best-preserved in Turkey, its carved marble seating still largely intact. Below the stage, the ancient city of Hierapolis unfolds in every direction: colonnaded streets, temples, baths, and the largest ancient necropolis in Anatolia.
  • Cleopatra Antique Thermal Pool: The Cleopatra Antique Pool area can be visited without an extra entrance fee. Swimming in the thermal pool is optional and payable on-site.

16:00 - Pamukkale tour ends. You will have time to rest or take a final look at the site before departure.

19:00 - Arrival at your hotel in Kusadasi and check-in.

Overnight stay in Kusadasi

Day 4 ─

Priene, Miletos & Didyma Tour & Fly to Cappadocia

Meal: Breakfast & Lunch

08:30 - After breakfast and check-out, transfer to the Priene, Miletos, and Didyma tour meeting point.

  • Priene: Priene stands as one of the clearest examples of Hellenistic grid planning in western Anatolia, with a compact hilltop layout that feels both elegant and readable. Its temple of Athena and theater reward visitors who value urban design over sheer size.
  • Miletos: Miletos expands the day with the larger civic remains of a city that once shaped philosophy, science, and Mediterranean trade. Its great theater and public squares illustrate ambitions that matched or exceeded those of its neighbors.
  • Didyma: Didyma closes the PMD triangle with the colossal Temple of Apollo, whose towering columns and sacred oracle history create a monumental finale. The sheer scale of the temple base alone communicates the religious importance this site once commanded.

17:00 - Tour ends and transfer to Izmir Airport.

Flight from Izmir to Kayseri or Nevsehir via Istanbul. Direct flights will be arranged if available. (Flight time may change.)

Upon arrival, our team will meet you and transfer you to your hotel in Cappadocia.

Meal: Breakfast & Lunch

09:30 - Pick up from your hotel and transfer to the North Cappadocia tour meeting point.

  • Devrent Valley (Pink Valley): Devrent Valley's rock formations look different from every angle, and walking a full loop around the main cluster rather than just the direct path reveals shapes that are invisible from a straight approach. Spending a few extra minutes here is never wasted.
  • Pasabag Open Air Museum: Photography at Pasabag rewards patience: the light changes quickly as clouds pass over the valley, and a chimney that looked flat and grey in one moment can turn golden and detailed in the next. Your guide will keep track of the schedule while you wait for the right light.
  • Avanos Pottery Workshop: Avanos hands-on sessions are genuinely participatory rather than passive: you sit at a wheel, the instructor positions your hands, and you feel the clay respond to pressure in real time. That tactile directness is what makes the stop memorable weeks after the tour ends.
  • Goreme Panoramic View: On clear days at Goreme Panoramic View, Mount Erciyes rises on the southeastern horizon, a dormant volcano whose ancient eruptions deposited the ash that became every fairy chimney in the valley below. Seeing the source and the result from the same viewpoint is one of Cappadocia's quietly powerful experiences.
  • Zelve Open Air Museum: Some of Zelve's cave rooms are accessible to visitors through low carved doorways that require ducking to enter, while others are visible only from outside through window openings. That variation in accessibility makes exploration feel like genuine discovery rather than a guided passage through roped-off spaces.
  • Uchisar Castle (exterior view): In winter, snow accumulates on Uchisar Castle's horizontal ledges and fills the carved window openings with white, creating a visual effect that turns an already dramatic rock into something even more extraordinary. Visitors who see Uchisar in snow consistently describe it as one of the most striking single images of their Turkey trip.

17:00 - North Cappadocia tour ends.

Transfer back to your hotel.

Day 6 ─

South Cappadocia Yellow Tour & Fly to Istanbul

Meal: Breakfast & Lunch

09:30 - After breakfast and check-out, transfer to the South Cappadocia tour starting point.

  • Red Valley: Hiking through Red Valley takes between 45 minutes and two hours depending on pace and how many stops you make along the route. The trail is dusty and uneven in places, so sturdy footwear is strongly recommended, especially near the sections where the path narrows between rock walls.
  • Rose Valley (Gulludere Valley): Carved niches and pigeonholes punctuate the upper sections of Rose Valley's cliff walls, evidence that Gulludere's inhabitants combined religious and agricultural activity in the same landscape. Pigeon droppings collected from these carved holes fertilized the same orchards that still produce fruit along the valley floor today.
  • Cavusin Village: Old Cavusin's upper cliff presents a natural photo opportunity that few visitors miss: the entire carved facade visible from a single angle, with the modern village clustered below and open sky above. Wide-angle photography from the road captures the full vertical extent of the settlement, from the lowest stone doorways to the church carved near the summit.
  • Pigeon Valley: Ancient farmers in Cappadocia collected pigeon droppings from cliff-carved dovecotes as a primary source of fertilizer, and Pigeon Valley's cliffs contain some of the highest concentrations of these carved openings in the region. In some sections, entire cliff faces from ground level to the rim are covered in evenly spaced carved holes, creating a textured, patterned surface that is immediately recognizable from a distance.
  • Underground City: Early Christian builders carved Cappadocia's underground city using simple iron tools to cut through layers of volcanic tuff, a rock soft enough to carve quickly but hard enough to hold its shape without internal supports. The structural stability of tunnels and chambers that have survived for more than a thousand years is a testament to how well the builders understood the material they were working with.

17:00 - South Cappadocia tour ends and transfer to the airport.

20:30 - Flight from Kayseri or Nevsehir to Istanbul. (Flight time may change depending on availability and seasonal operation.)

21:50 - Arrival in Istanbul and airport greeting.

Transfer to your hotel in Istanbul.

Tour Overview

What Sets This Turkey Heritage Package Apart

  • Archaeology drives the entire itinerary rather than appearing as occasional detours between scenic stops.
  • Pergamon and the PMD triangle deepen the route well past what most 6 day Turkey tour packages offer.
  • Cappadocia closes the tour with volcanic landscapes and underground cities that shift the heritage lens from classical to geological.
  • Three nights on the Aegean coast plus two in Cappadocia balance the pace between western ruins and central Anatolian terrain.
  • Flights, hotels, and guided entries are pre-arranged so the focus stays on discovery, not logistics.

For the same heritage circuit at a slightly slower pace, our 7 Days Istanbul, Cappadocia, Pamukkale, and Ephesus Tour adds Istanbul and an extra day of exploration.
If ancient sites and Ottoman heritage are your focus, our 8-day Turkey, Nemrut and Gobeklitepe tour extends the journey with Nemrut Mountain and Gobeklitepe.
For a different seven-day route that leads with Gallipoli, our 7-day Turkey tour covers the full Turkey sweep.

This 6 day heritage tour really does cover the best of Turkey. We visited Kusadasi area (Ephesus), Pamukkale and Cappadocia, all with flights from Istanbul. What I loved most was that each destination felt completly different from the last. Ephesus was ancient history, Pamukkale was natural beauty, and Cappadocia was like being on another planet. Guide Tuna helped us plan everything before we arrived and was always available. The cave hotel in Cappadocia had the most amazing view from the terrace. Honestly one of the best organized trips ive ever been on.
