Tour Overview

From a balloon basket at first light, Pamukkale's calcium terraces and the Hierapolis plateau look completely different than from ground level. A 2-day Pamukkale tour with balloon flight pairs the sunrise aerial view with a full guided day through the travertines, ancient ruins, and the optional Cleopatra thermal pool. Flights from Istanbul included.

Tour Itinerary

  1. 14:00 - Pick up from your Istanbul hotel and transfer to the airport.

Our team collects you from your hotel in Istanbul and transfers you to the airport for your Pamukkale flight. This afternoon departure keeps the package less exhausting than a same-day return format. Final airport and pickup timing depend on airline availability.

  2. 17:40 - Flight from Istanbul to Denizli.

    Flight time may change.

  3. 18:55 - Arrival in Denizli and hotel transfer.

After landing, our team greets you at the airport exit and transfers you to your hotel in Pamukkale This direct connection matters because the next morning starts before sunrise. Your first day ends with hotel check-in and rest.

Balloon Flight & Pamukkale Tour

Early hotel pickup for the balloon flight, breakfast, guided Pamukkale route with lunch, airport transfer, and evening flight back to Istanbul.

  1. 04:30 - Pick up from your hotel for the balloon flight.

Our team collects you from your Pamukkale hotel in the early hours and transfers you to the balloon field for the sunrise experience. This pre-dawn schedule is exactly why the overnight stay is built into the package. It makes the balloon flight possible without an impossible same-day departure from Istanbul.

Pickup time may change according to season.

  2. Sunrise - Enjoy the 1-hour balloon flight and landing celebration.

You watch the inflation process, board the basket, and drift for one hour above the white terraces and the surrounding landscape at first light. After landing, a small celebration brings the experience to a satisfying close. After the balloon program, you are taken back to your hotel, where you have breakfast before the Pamukkale tour begins. The balloon flight is the emotional centerpiece of the package.

Pamukkale → White Calcium Terraces → Hierapolis Ancient City → The Necropolis → Bath and Basilica → Frontinius Gate → Frontinius Street → Latrina → Northern Byzantine Gate → Fountain of the Tritons → The Temple of Apollon → Cleopatra Antique Thermal Pool

Briefing

  • Pamukkale: Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Pamukkale combines natural thermal springs with two thousand years of history in one place.

  • White Calcium Terraces: Walking the travertine feels like stepping on firm but slightly soft mineral crust, a texture unlike any normal stone.

  • Hierapolis Ancient City: Built directly on top of Pamukkale's thermal springs, Hierapolis grew into a wealthy spa city where wealthy Romans came to heal and retire.

  • The Necropolis: Wealthy Romans built elaborate marble sarcophagi here, decorating them with carved portraits, mythological scenes, and inscriptions naming the deceased.

  • Bath and Basilica: Thick stone walls, vaulted ceilings, and wide arched windows mark the Bath and Basilica as one of the most structurally impressive buildings in Hierapolis.

  • Frontinius Gate: Named after the Roman proconsul Julius Frontinus who governed Asia Minor around 84 AD, this monumental arch announced the importance of the city you were entering.

  • Frontinius Street: Colonnaded on both sides, the street had covered walkways that shielded pedestrians from summer sun and winter rain as they moved between shops, temples, and public buildings.

  • Latrina: Stone bench seats arranged around three sides of the latrina room contained cut openings where users sat side by side without any expectation of privacy.

  • Northern Byzantine Gate: Heavy stone walls flanking the northern gate show clear evidence of Byzantine military reinforcement, built at a time when the city needed stronger defenses against outside threats.

  • Fountain of the Tritons: Ornamental street fountains were status symbols in Roman cities, and the Fountain of the Tritons at Hierapolis was built to impress as much as to provide drinking water.

  • The Temple of Apollon: Positioned directly above the Plutonium, a cave venting toxic carbon dioxide, the Temple of Apollon was built at a site considered sacred long before the Romans arrived.

  • Cleopatra Antique Thermal Pool: Submerged Roman columns visible through the clear water of Cleopatra Pool were toppled by an earthquake in the seventh century AD, entry to swim is paid separately on-site (swimming is payable on-site).

  1. 16:00 - Transfer to Denizli Airport.

When the guided Pamukkale route ends, you are transferred to Denizli Airport for your return flight. The entire ground transfer is pre-arranged, so the package stays smooth until the final stage.

    Return airport transfer is included.

  2. 20:35 - Flight from Denizli to Istanbul.

You board your evening return flight to Istanbul after completing the balloon and Pamukkale day. The late departure leaves enough space for the full sightseeing route without compressing the schedule.

    Flight time may change.

  3. 21:45 - Arrival in Istanbul and final transfer.

After landing in Istanbul, our team meets you at the airport and transfers you back to your hotel. Your package ends with hotel drop-off in Istanbul.

Arrival airport may be Istanbul Airport or Sabiha Gokcen Airport.

Pamukkale from a hot air balloon is somthing else entirely. The white travertines from above look like a massive frozen waterfall on the side of a green hillside. Absolutley stunning. Then walking on them barefoot with warm water running over your feet the next day was equally amazing just in a completley different way. The balloon flight was early morning and the light was perfect. Guide Tuna handled evreything from Istanbul flights to hotel to balloon booking. The whole 2 days was perfectly put together. One of the best trips Ive done.

The geometry of those white shelves from the air is something else. You can see the mineral-rich water flowing down creating new layers in real time. Our pilot pointed out different features during the flight which was really helpfull. The guided Pamukkale tour after covered everything, Hierapolis ruins are massive, Frontinius Gate, the theatre, Temple of Apollon. Cleopatra pool was an extra cost but the water felt amazing. Whole package was great value from Istanbul.
