Tour Overview

Skip the boring direct bus and turn the Cappadocia to Antalya journey into a proper sightseeing day. The route pauses in Konya for the Mevlana Museum, Ottoman mosque architecture, and a seated lunch before the Taurus Mountains reveal the final descent to the Mediterranean coast. Hotel pickup in Cappadocia, drop-off in central Antalya.

Tour Itinerary

Cappadocia to Antalya via Konya

Morning hotel pickup, Konya sightseeing, local lunch, and evening arrival at your Antalya hotel.

  1. 08:30 - Pick up from your Cappadocia hotel.

Your day starts with hotel pickup in Cappadocia and a comfortable departure toward Konya. This makes the southbound move more efficient than arranging a separate intercity transfer and then another local tour later.

Pickup time may vary slightly based on your hotel location.

  2. Drive across Central Anatolia toward Konya.

The first leg carries you over the Anatolian plateau, where the landscape opens wide before the route changes into the historical center of Konya. It is a useful contrast after Cappadocia's carved valleys.

  3. 13:30 - Lunch break in Konya.

A traditional lunch stop gives the day a natural pause before the long drive toward Antalya. It also adds a local-food layer to a route that could otherwise feel purely practical.

Drinks at lunch are excluded unless stated otherwise.

Scenic Drive to Konya -> Mevlana Museum -> Mevlana Square -> Sultan Selim Mosque -> Traditional Konya Lunch -> Central Antalya Hotel Drop-off

Briefing

  • Scenic Drive to Konya: This overland section is more than simple mileage because it shows how the soft volcanic geography of Cappadocia gives way to the wide plains of Central Anatolia. That visual shift helps the day feel like a journey between distinct regions, not only between hotels.

  • Mevlana Museum: The Mevlana Museum gives the route its emotional and historical center. Visiting the lodge and mausoleum of Rumi turns the stop into a quiet encounter with Sufi tradition rather than a quick museum checkbox.

  • Mevlana Square: Mevlana Square adds breathing room around the museum complex and lets you see how the spiritual identity of Konya continues in daily urban life. The open space also makes the visit feel less rushed after the long morning drive.

  • Sultan Selim Mosque: Standing beside the Mevlana complex, Sultan Selim Mosque adds an Ottoman architectural layer to the stop. It helps the Konya section feel complete by placing imperial mosque design next to the citys Sufi heart.

  • Traditional Lunch in Konya: Lunch in Konya is part of the travel rhythm, not a filler break. Regional dishes such as etli ekmek or other Central Anatolian flavors make the city feel lived rather than merely visited in transit.

  • Central Antalya Hotel Drop-off: The final transfer continues south through changing inland scenery until the Taurus Mountains open the way toward the coast. Reaching Antalya the same evening keeps your multi-city Turkey plan moving without wasting a full day.

  1. 15:00 - Continue the afternoon transfer to Antalya.

After the Konya stop is complete, the route heads toward the Mediterranean. The second drive is longer, but it feels lighter because the middle of the day already delivered a real visit rather than a roadside break.

  2. 19:30 - Arrival in Antalya and hotel drop-off.

You reach central Antalya by evening and the driver drops you at your hotel. That same-day arrival is especially useful if you want to start your Antalya stay without needing another overnight transfer.

Way better than the direct bus. Konya was not on our original plan but the Mevlana Museum ended up being one of our favourite stops in Turkey. The whirling dervish connection, the mosque, the museum exhibits were all facinating. Plus the scenery driving through the mountains to Antalya was gorgeous. Got picked up from our cave hotel in the morning and dropped at our beach hotel in Antalya by 7:30pm. Lunch included. No complaints.
