You will be picked up from the Izmir Port Passenger Terminal by your guide and taken to Sardis, one of the most magnificent places in the world, one hour away from Izmir.
You will see the ancient city, Sardes of Lydian period, which was known as the first place where money was first printed in state security, became a rich city thanks to agriculture, animal husbandry, trade, and gold mining in Pactolus (Sart) Stream. Then, you will be amazed at the Byzantine Church in the south-eastern corner of the temple was built in the 5th century AD. The tour will include also the Temple of Artemis which in the Hellenistic period the names of Zeus and Artemis were used. In the Roman period, the western part of the temple was dedicated to Artemis and the eastern part to Antonius Pius.
When you walk along the Kingsway, you will see the oldest synagogues in Asia Minor and the wonderfully restored facade of the gymnasium, where both scholars and athletes were trained.
You will take a break for lunch at a local restaurant in Alasehir where you can taste the delicious wines of Anatolia. When the tour is over, you will be transferred back to Izmir where you can visit Kemeraltı Market which constitutes structures with Ottoman 18th architecture. In here, you can enjoy the colorful shops.
